TANGKAD DALAM (Deep Reef)
Only discovered in early 1996, the steep sides of this reef rise up from the sea floor at around 38 metres to a plateau-like reef top at 12 metres. Normally dived as a multi-level or computer dive for the more experienced, this reef has an amazing assortment of corals and invertebrates, including table corals, giant leather corals, sponges, and nudibranchs, to name just a few. Also to be found on its western side is a large number of red "flaming scallops" whose "silver lining" flashes continuously. Eagle rays have often been sighted around this reef as well as schools of fusiliers, jacks, and silversides.
